Happy 2004!

Thursday, January 1st, 2004

Howdy y’all. It’s been a couple weeks since this site was updated. I spent a week at home with my sister, and the days were filled with frenzied shopping, good food, reading O.C. recaps (it’s just like you’re watching the show!), and lots and lots of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. And lots. We also visited a couple of the monuments, including the Korean War Veterans Memorial, which was very eerie, and probably one of the more anti-war war monuments I’ve ever seen.

Afterwards, we all headed up to New York City, aka The Land of a Thousand Starbucks. My parents and I went on a couple walking tours, where we learned, among other things, that Washington Square is full of morbidly obese squirrels, with a disturbing lack of fear of humans. I also spent some time playing with Arthur’s crazy dog Sophie. My sister and I spent New Year’s Eve at her friend Eric’s apartment, where he made us tapas and four (four!) kinds of desserts, including homemade truffles. Who the hell makes homemade truffles? Eric, aparently. I also saw RotK again with my dad and brother. It was still good the second time, though the ending was still very, very long.

Anyway, work starts again on Monday. I hope I still remember how to turn on my computer.

Fun in D.C.

Thursday, December 19th, 2002

So Mariel left this morning to go back to L.A. We had a good time, and pictures will probably be posted after break. We visited the Smithsonian museums, all the major monuments/memorials, went shopping, and went to the International Spy Museum. The museums were nice, but much to my mom’s disappointment, we actually looked at almost every exhibit and read the placards and everything, so we didn’t get to go to as many of the museums as we would have liked. The monumements were also very nice, and we got some nice pictures, which you all will have to wait to see because I am on a painfully slow 56.6K connection here at home. We also visited the Supreme Court and the Library of Congress, which were both very nice. The International Spy Musem was also really cool, and I even learned stuff! I’m edumacated now! Other than that, much food was consumed (mmm… all you can eat seafood buffet…) and a fair amount of sleep was had. As promised, fun was had by all.

Now I have nothing to do for the couple days until Moo gets home, so I’ll probably sit in my pajamas and watch TV or surf tha web. Hey, just like now! Whee!

Away We Go!

Leaving for D.C. (Arlington, really, but Washington, D.C. sounds so much more exciting) in about 5 hours. Packing, cleaning, laundering in a panic. Until then…
