Cuteness Amplified

Friday, April 30th, 2010

As most of you know, I spent last weekend in Seattle. We were there in part to meet Laura’s new baby Greta. To add to the fun factor, we also decided to bring Little Bear. You can see where this is going.

Now, as most of you know, babies are cute, as we see in Exhibit A, Is That The Gerber Baby?:

Something that is also common knowledge is that puppies are cute. Exhibit B, Chillin’ Like a Villain:

But what happens if we combine the two? Can you handle it, people? Observe, Exhibit C, Feeding Time:

Oooh, it’s gettin’ good, folks. Let’s ramp it up. Exhibit D, Stroller Time:

Holy crap, my head just exploded.

For the finale, I will show you Exhibits E and F, EXTREME PUPPY TONGUE CLOSEUP:

And that, dear friends, is Cuteness Amplified.

And we’re back

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Hello, children. Apologies for going dark for the past couple weeks. I don’t really have a reason, except maybe that work has been really busy. They did a big code refactor that broke everything I was working on, so for about a week, I was panicking and trying to prop everything back up. But things seem to be okay now.

Amanda and I went to Seattle over President’s Day weekend. The trip started off as a bit of a debacle when our shuttle driver never showed up, then I almost forgot my backpack (with my wallet inside) in the car, and then my luggage got lost. But it all ended up okay. Like last year, we stayed with Amanda’s friends and their still-ridiculously-cute daughter. We played with the baby a lot, went to a Chinese New Year festival (Gong Xi Fa Cai, by the way!), went to Woodland Park Zoo, Pike Place Market, saw Pan’s Labyrinth which I thought was excellent, I finally beat Phoenix Wright (the last episode nearly killed me), and we attempted to go to the EMP, but discovered that it’s closed on Tuesdays. Boo. But I had a really good time, and thanks to L, P, and S for once again being excellent hosts. Pictures here.

In other news, I have two days left in the Great Vegetarian Experiment. It has been okay overall, but I have been really tired over the past week and a half, and I think it’s probably due to the lack of meaties in my diet. I have been taking vitamins, but I think my iron is probably still a little low. It would be good for me to reduce my meat consumption, but I doubt I’ll be going permanently veggie any time soon.

On Sunday, Buddy and Amanda and I saw Reno 911!:Miami, which was…about as expected. :)

Finally, yesterday in did two 5.11a climbs!

Scam, Scam, Scam, Eggs and Scam

Wednesday, April 12th, 2006

Monday I got an e-mail from my hosting provider saying that they had temporarily suspended my account because one of the directories was being used to run a PayPal scam. Apparently I had accidentally made the directory world-writable, so some poohead uploaded some files used to scam people’s PayPal accounts into it. I sorted it out with my host and changed the permissions, so if you were unable to access my site over the weekend, well you know why. People suck.

In other non-scammy news, I spent the weekend in Seattle. Amanda was there visiting a friend, and since I’d never been to Seattle, I decided to tag along. Her friend has a ridiculously cute 15-month-old daughter (I was in full Shaparazzi mode, and got some nice pics of her), so we worked our schedule around hers, but still managed to do a lot. We went to Pike Place Market, The Seattle Center, The Fremont Flea Market, saw Thank You For Smoking, re-watched 40 Year Old Virgin, watched a few eps of Six Feet Under: Season 5, went running, walked around the neighborhood, and played with the baby.

I was surprised that despite being the birthplace of Starbucks, Seattle didn’t seem to have any more Starbucks locations than any other city. If anything, it seemed to have fewer. It did, however, live up to its rainy reputation, and drizzled every day. However, it was still a really nice trip, and lots of fun. Thank you so much to Laura and Peter and Sadie for having me for the weekend. Hope to see you again soon!
