I got a half-marathon PR today with a time of 2:10:56, which puts me at a pace of 10:00 min/mi. Well, technically, 9:59:69 min/mi, but who’s counting?
Overall, the course was pretty good. I give a solid “meh” for the live bands idea, only because you barely get to hear them as you’re running by. I did enjoy the flatness of the course, but I could have done without the heat.
I was hoping to do a little better time-wise, but I am in the midst of an icky cold I caught last week, which kinda put a damper on things. So all things considered, it went pretty much as well as it could have, and I am proud of the fact that I beat my previous best half-marathon time by 10 minutes. If current trends continue (my SF half time from two years ago was an additional 10 minutes slower), I should easily beat 2 hours next time, right? …Right?
Here is the data from my Garmin watch. There’s a bit of a discrepancy in time, I believe because it auto-paused at some of the water stations. Oddly enough, two other people with GPS watches logged the total distance as 13.2 miles as well. Hmmm… I also realized I’m kind of dumb in that I did not utilize the lap feature of the watch to figure out my mile splits. Oh well, next time, I guess.
In related news, congrats to Buddy for shattering both the 2-hour mark and his previous PR with an awesome 1:56:41 time. Woo!
