Shake it like a Poloroid picture

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007

Last night Amanda was listening to some music on the stereo, and asked if I could turn the bass down. I was heading to the living room, and I thought, “Wow…the bass really is high!” but then I realized that the rumbling wasn’t from the stereo, but from an earthquake. It wasn’t super strong, but it was a lot longer than other earthquakes I’ve felt. Nothing broke or fell over, and Enzo didn’t seem to notice at all. The epicenter was down in the South Bay, so I’m curious to hear from my friends down there. Friends, are you okay??

In other news, Happy Halloween! I went to Camila’s house for a pumpkin carving party on Sunday, and carved a spider (from a pattern) on the other side of Ryan’s pumpkin, where he had carved a skull. I brought the pumpkin home, and put it on a ledge near my apartment building, spider-side out. However, someone keeps turning it around so that it’s skull-side out, and I don’t know who. So for the past few days, we’ve been having a silent spider vs. skull pumpkin battle, which has been interesting. I’m just glad that nobody’s smashed it yet.

Finally, I’m sleepy today. I’m going to blame it on the fact that I donated blood yesterday, but it’s more likely that I’m just lazy.

Must We All Have Titles?

Friday, November 3rd, 2006

My mom was in town last week, so I got to spend time with her, which was nice. The Enzo was not so nice, though. :(

Halloween pictures are up. I think I did a bang-up job with the Elroy Jetson costume, if I do say so myself. Saturday night we all went to a party at someone’s place in the city. It was very reminiscent of college parties — loud music, drunk people, and not enough room. But it was fun for people watching, at least.

Wednesday Yar and I went to a chamber music performance in Berkeley with Gil Shaham, Lynn Harrell, and Yefim Bronfman. Gil Shaham is probably my favorite violinist, so I really enjoyed it.

This weekend is also going to musical. I’m going to see Ramona’s fiancee Owen play at Freight and Salvage in Berkeley, then on Sunday night it’s a concert by the Marin Symphony. Hopefully all the fun-ness will balance out the fact that I’m coming into work on Saturday. :(

Happy Halloween!

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Happy Halloween, friends! In honor of this, the spookiest day of the year, I present to you the absolute scariest video I have ever seen. Ever. Seriously. Turn back. Ok, here you go. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

Boo

Friday, October 31st, 2003

Happy Halloween, everyone! It’s cold and rainy here, and I smell like wet dog. Walking a dog in the rain is an art I have yet to master. There’s going to be a bumpin’ party at Matt’s place tonight, but other than that, I don’t have any plans.

Here’s a bone-chilling story for Halloween:

The other day, there was an accident on the freeway. While I was stuck in traffic, a group, nay, a horde of seven policemen on motorcycles passed by. I thought they were going to the accident, but they passed by the accident and kept going. After the traffic cleared up, I caught up to them and decided that it was borderline creepy to see seven identically dressed policemen thundering down the highway, with no obvious destination. It was like a scene from Children of the Damned. Except they were Policemen….of the…damned…

Damn.

Happy Halloween

Thursday, October 31st, 2002

I started playing Naughty Dog‘s Jak and Daxter yesterday, and I’ve become quite obsessed. I played so much tonight that my head hurts, my back aches, and my arms are tingling. What a great game. It can be frustrating when you have to try a certain task over and over again, but the fun factor usually overshadows any frustration. The graphics and animation are fantastic, and as Rahul pointed out, it’s really neat that all of the levels are connected in one seamless world. As a bonus, in the developer’s own words, the camera doesn’t make you sick! I highly recommend the game to all you PS2ers out there, especially since it’s a PS2 Greatest Hits title, so it’s only $20.

In other news, my EE282 midterm wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I don’t know my score yet, but I at least answered all of the questions, which is better than I’ve done on a lot of other tests. Partial credit is my friend.

Every Sunday, Mariel and I go to the Menlo Park Farmer’s Market where be buy, among other things, flowers. We bought some nice big Gerber Daisies last week, so I decided to try my hand at photographing one. I blurred out the background in Photoshop because I thought it was distracting to see the texture of the wall around the flower. I think it came out decently, but I’m beginning to feel like 2.1 Megapixels isn’t quite enough.

I wonder if kids will come Trick-or-Treating to Rains?

I should probably stop writing entries at 4:30 a.m. This one is even more imcomprehensible than my usual ones. Ah well, I chock it up to the numbness in my wrists.
