“C” is for Cookie

And also Customer Service. Each quarter at our company meeting they hand out “A.C.T.I.O.N.” awards, to people or teams who exemplify the “core ACTION values”: Achievement, Customer Service, Teamwork, Integrity, Ownership, and Now.

Paul (the other engineer I work with) and I were nominated for the “Customer Service” award for the work we did for the Bond and Return of the King teams. Unfortunately, we didn’t win, (and I can’t remember who did; probably one of those “other” teams like finance or marketing) but the president of the company did say “I’ve always wanted to say this” before he announced my name. A big congrats also goes out to Rahul, who was nominated for the “Now” award but didn’t win either.

We demand a recount.

So Honorable

Wednesday, June 11th, 2003

I am happy to announce that my and Darren’s 348b final project won an Honorable Mention for “Best Post-Production Processing.” I think they were referring to the 7-step rendering/compositing process we went through to produce our final image. Who knew I would get my only graphics-related prize in college for a huge hack? Anyway, I am now the proud new owner of an ILM hat for my efforts.

Mariel also bought me a spiffy new cordless keyboard (I think she was tired of banging the “R” key on my old keyboard) and I bought myself the Buffy season 4 DVDs. All in all a quite successful day.

I’ve also been reading a lot about sugar gliders because someone on su.market (our campus newgroup for buying/selling stuff) is giving a couple of them away. The idea of having a pet that will sleep in my pocket is very very appealing to me, but unfortunately they are illegal to keep in California. Stupid California.

Edit: Forgot to say that I am done with schoolwork FOREVER! Wooooo!
