AGREED. I've been with the company for 6 months. The whole IKEA Concept is that the customer pays less because they're involved in the chain of supply! Our suppliers make the product and then ships it, we receive it, place it in our stores for the customer to find themselves, they pick it themselves and they take it home.

From Day 1 at IKEA I was told that many customers complain that there aren't enough coworkers in the store to help them. The idea of an excursion to IKEA is that you do it yourself. We can show you how to, we can point things out and answer questions but at the end of the day the model does not support one-on-one customer service. The prices definitely don't! We are not going to hold your hand the whole way through the store.

As you said, if anyone does not like the way IKEA operates, if they don't like our concept, if they can't be bothered getting the product off the racking themselves and taking it out to their car, going home and putting it together... then they don't HAVE to. They can go to many other places and pay a lot more for one-on-one service. No one is stopping them from doing that and forcing them into our stores.

Dear Oh Please!

Now I believe that you are being quite rude. I graduated from Princeton in the top 5 % of my class, and I work at IKEA. It is true that my skills in "wiping the asses of drooling senior citizens in a nursing home" are limited but I do not see those as essential for doing my job. It is also true that IKEA customer service can be quite horrible in some cases, but believe me, the problem in many cases rather is that customers believe that they are shopping at Waldorf Astoria, and not IKEA.

Take care

oh, btw, I think I have a better job than you do.
