September 23, 2007 APPLE AIRPORT EXPRESS NOT SO EXPRESS
The install, anyway. Amanda's been thinking of ditching all of her CDs and having her music strictly digital, so to enable this, I went out and bought an AirPort Express so that we can stream our music from iTunes to our stereo. 4 hours and a lot of frustration later, I finally had the soft strains of Shakira coming out of our speaker system. The key step seemed to be that I needed to prefix our wireless network's WEP key with "$" to let the AirPort Express know that it was in hex. The weird thing is, on Amanda's laptop, where I initially configured the AirPort Express, for a while the system tray icon showing the wireless network status would always say that it was disconnected, even though it wasn't. This problem persisted between reboots and then later started working again, so who knows what happened there.
Now that we can both stream music wirelessly, I'm in the process of deleting a bunch of crap from my computer to make room for all of my mp3s, which I had moved onto an external drive a couple of months ago.
I also picked up a Griffin iTrip FM transmitter so that I can play my audiobooks stored on my iPod on my car stereo. Sweet!
People don't work on Mondays or Fridays. Monday and Friday traffic? Awesome. Tuesday through Thursday traffic? Craptastic. Coincidence? I think not.
Enzo has rockstar kidneys. 8 months after being diagnosed with protein-losing nephropathy, he's still going strong, and his kidney values from his last checkup were actually better than his values from the previous checkup. Take that, protein-losing nephropathy.
99.5% of BMW drivers are assholes. The other 0.5% are my dad.
Blue cheese tastes like ass.
The music from The Phantom of the Opera is still awesome after 20 years, in spite (or because?) of the cheesy 80s synthesized drums.
As mentioned above, I recently listened to the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack again. I decided to listen to it in my car on Friday, and after a 50 minute commute flew by, I realized that keeping myself occupied makes commuting much more tolerable. To that end, I've decided to give audio books a try. I've acquired A Short History of Everything and Freakonomics, and I'll give them a try over the next couple of weeks. Hopefully it will make that stop and go traffic feel oh-so-fun. Recommendations for other books are welcome.

Finally finished all of the post-processing on Ramona and Owen's wedding photos, and managed to whittle 400+ shots to a more manageable 145. I made use of all three of my new lenses, as well as my new flash, and I think I took some of the best wedding shots I've ever taken, which made me happy.
The wedding itself was so much fun, and I hope that I was able to convey the joy of the day in these photos.
While I enjoy social activities as much as the next person, please to be making them stop, as I am going crazy.
Last Friday we took Justin T. to a yummy Thai place in Sunnyvale for his birthday (Happy Birthday!) . The rest of them karaoke'd afterwards, but I, having to make the many-miled trek back to San Francisco, bailed out after dinner. On Saturday, Amanda and I headed out to Modesto for Ramona's bridal shower, which was fun, but the fun was damped by the fact that driving time == time at shower. What should have been a less-than-2-hour drive turned into a 3 1/2-hour debacle, which was not excellent. Sunday I spent most of the day with my parents, where we visited my Dad's aunt, and I also got a new dress for Ramona's wedding on Saturday. Sunday night we took Rahul to Cha Cha Cha's in the Mission for his birthday (Happy Birthday!), then ended up at Yancy's afterwards. We made a stop at Hot Cookie on the way to Yancy's and got a...shaped cookie. Just keep in mind that Hot Cookie is in the Castro, and you can probably figure out what shape it was. Hint: not a puppy. Monday was awesome, which I'll just leave at that. I had a really fun time all weekend, but the long weekend didn't really feel like a weekend, more like a series of social engagements broken up by long driving times.
Coming up is Ramona's wedding and all surrounding events, so that pretty much books up this weekend, too.
I'm really looking forward to some down time soon, so if you try to make plans with me and I say no, just understand that it's not personal.
