CAR ASPLODE?

This morning, for the first time ever, I put regular gas in my car (I usually put premium.) The Arco near my house was $3.37 for premium, and the Shell and Chevron on the same corner were both $3.45, and the thought of paying that much for gas made me sad. Nonetheless, I am wracked by guilt, even though I can't get a conclusive answer about whether or not premium is a scam or a necessary part of car care. I hope my car doesn't blow up.

I've been getting unreal amounts of comment spam recently, so I re-enabled the "Type this number" thing in the comments form. I hope y'all don't find it super annoying.

HEY LOOK, RAHUL, AN UPDATE

At the behest of this fatty, I'm making a website update. I'm not sure why he so urgently needs to read about my life, seeing as I spend most of it sharing a cube with him at work.

Yesterday me, Amanda, Yar, Jan, Rahul, and Buddy went to Garden Fresh and had our fill of faux-meat. I don't think Rahul and Buddy weren't too excited about it, but the rest of us enjoyed it.

Anyway, life has been fairly routine lately. Work, eat, sleep, climb, hang out with friends, rise, repeat. More exciting happenings include Dave's son Ian's 1st Birthday (I knit him a hat), finishing my taxes, finishing season one of Battlestar Galactica, and the return of Sunday Sports. Sunday Sports had been in hiatus for a good 2-3 months because of rain, so I was excited for it to resume. Only 5 of us showed up, though, and we played what was possibly the laziest game of football to ever grace this great country of ours.

Future plans include: Volunteering with Rebuilding Together, getting back into running regularly, knitting a sweet birthday present for my sister (no I won't tell you what it is!) and going to Australia! We're leaving in less than two weeks, so the freakout should begin shortly. You've been warned.

SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, EGGS AND SCAM

Monday I got an e-mail from my hosting provider saying that they had temporarily suspended my account because one of the directories was being used to run a PayPal scam. Apparently I had accidentally made the directory world-writable, so some poohead uploaded some files used to scam people's PayPal accounts into it. I sorted it out with my host and changed the permissions, so if you were unable to access my site over the weekend, well you know why. People suck.

In other non-scammy news, I spent the weekend in Seattle. Amanda was there visiting a friend, and since I'd never been to Seattle, I decided to tag along. Her friend has a ridiculously cute 15-month-old daughter (I was in full Shaparazzi mode, and got some nice pics of her), so we worked our schedule around hers, but still managed to do a lot. We went to Pike Place Market, The Seattle Center, The Fremont Flea Market, saw Thank You For Smoking, re-watched 40 Year Old Virgin, watched a few eps of Six Feet Under: Season 5, went running, walked around the neighborhood, and played with the baby.

I was surprised that despite being the birthplace of Starbucks, Seattle didn't seem to have any more Starbucks locations than any other city. If anything, it seemed to have fewer. It did, however, live up to its rainy reputation, and drizzled every day. However, it was still a really nice trip, and lots of fun. Thank you so much to Laura and Peter and Sadie for having me for the weekend. Hope to see you again soon!
