THE RETURN
I've been away so long that even a virtual apology won't do. In the interest of brevity, here is a summary of my last few weeks, in good ol' bullet-point form:
- Went swing dancing under immense, crushing peer pressure. It wasn't horrible, but still not my choice of leisure activity.
- At home spent lots of time with family, saw lots o' friends, including several I hadn't seen since high school.
- Four pull-ups at climbing.
- Saw a few movies, some good, some bad.
- The Chronic(what?)-cles of Narnia!
- Learned how to knit.
- Marsha stayed over for her Stanford interview. Good fun, strange dinnertime conversation.
- New digital camera expressly purchased for party-type settings, where my big-ass camera is not practical.
- Happy Birthday, Mom!
- Two-year anniversary of Gong Gong's death. My cousins Albert and Karen and I visited his gravesite in Los Altos. It was nice.
- Lots of and lots and lots of rain. And lots.
- Discovered that Gap is discontinuing the "Low rise boot cut" style jean. This led to a frantic search at the mall for Jeans That Fit, which culminated in buying expensive jeans at J Crew and still having to leave them to be hemmed.
Wow. Put this way, my life seems really, really boring. *sigh*.

WHAT? why are they discontinuing that? not that i own a pair of Gap jeans anyway.
Express will have jeans for your slim frame =) And a pair of Lucky Brand's Lil' Maggie/Short Inseam lowrise/bootcut would work well too (it's my new favorite pair). woohoo!
Marsha *does* make for strange dinnertime conversation, doesn't she? I had a similar experience Wednesday night when she stayed with me for an interview in Chicago.
Also, what do you mean "party-type settings, where my big-ass camera is not practical"?!?!?!?!?!? I think you can get great pictures at parties and bars (esp in low light w/o flash) with a DSLR that you can't manage with a point and shoot, and curtain-sync is way better than the point and shoot variety of flash. Although I just bought a lomo (http://shop.lomography.com/shop/main.php?cat=&pro=lca), so I'll be using that at parties I'm sure. Hooray for crappy soviet equipment!
In Marsha's defense, it was actually my friends who were making the strange dinnertime conversation, not her. But I can imagine her being an active participant as well. :)
I meant "practical" not in terms of picture quality (no contest there), but "practical" in the sense of "my camera is so damn big and I have a huge-ass lens and I just don't want to cart it around, much less get it stolen at a bar." Sometimes I want to just take "remember the moment"-type pictures, not nice pictures. Hence the point-and-shoot.
