UNIVERSAL TRUTH #47
It's hard to look cool when you miss the door handle to the bathroom and end up running into the door.

HIJACK
I've noticed recently that recently, many websites (okay, not the websites themselves, but the people who run them) have somehow figured out how to hijack Google search results, filling my web browser with piles upon piles of crap, when I'm actually trying to find useful information. I first noticed this when I was looking up information about my cell phone. Go to Google and type in any search query with a cell phone model in it, and chances are you'll be rewarded with a whole bunch of pages that claim to have info on your phone, but are really huge pages filled with crap and pop-up ads.
And it peeeeesses me off.
Lilly, fix it!!!

"SHE'S REAL SMALL."
This past weekend, Mariel and I went Christmas shopping. We decided to buy a little chair for Cheryl at Pottery Barn Kids. This is how our conversation with the saleswoman went:
Me: I think we'd like to take this chair. Do you have it in lavender?
Saleswoman: Let me check. [Leaves for a few minutes.] No, sorry, we don't. Is this for a girl?
Me: ...Yes....
Saleswoman: Maybe you should get the denim cover, because the lighter colors get dirty easily.
Me: ...
Mariel: Well, she's an adult. But she's real small. I don't think she'll get it dirty.
Saleswoman: ...

RETURN OF THE KING
Mariel, Matt, and I just got back from seeing The Return of the King for free, courtesy of EA.
But wait, according to this, the movie doesn't open until December 17. What's today's date? December 11? That means we saw it...what...six days early?
Huh. Imagine that.

As planned, this Saturday I went with Mariel, Domi, and Babs to San Francisco to go Christmas shopping. "Christmas browsing" is probably a more accurate term, as we hardly bought anything. But it was fun, and we were fortunate to have good timing, since it starting pouring just as we were leaving. It made for some nerve-wracking driving, but at least we didn't get soaked.
I also wanted to wish Peter a belated happy birthday! Hope you enjoy the "d-pod". Dork.
Finally, in more exciting news, we had our company annual awards meeting last Friday. No, I didn't win any awards, but Mya showed up to sing the song she co-wrote for our game. She sounded really good, and apparently afterwards she went up to the 2nd floor to talk to some of the people who make the game. Not engineers, of course, because that would just scare her away. And rightly so.

DAYS O' CHRISTMAS
It is now December 1st. Oh how time flies! Thanksgiving was very successful, with much turkey and various side dishes being consumed. Props to Yar and his good friend Wolfgang Puck (or "W.P" as Yar likes to call him) for the turkey recipe.
Last night while at Wal-Mart, I thought of a fun project to do during the 25 days leading up to Christmas. This is for those of you who live in dorms or apartments: Buy one of those creepy plastic Santas that people like to put out on their lawns. Place it outside of your door. Each day, move it 2 inches closer to your neighbor's door. If they ask about it, give him a thumbs-up, grin, and say, "Someone's been good this year!"
Hilarity ensues!
