BOO

Happy Halloween, everyone! It's cold and rainy here, and I smell like wet dog. Walking a dog in the rain is an art I have yet to master. There's going to be a bumpin' party at Matt's place tonight, but other than that, I don't have any plans.

Here's a bone-chilling story for Halloween:

The other day, there was an accident on the freeway. While I was stuck in traffic, a group, nay, a horde of seven policemen on motorcycles passed by. I thought they were going to the accident, but they passed by the accident and kept going. After the traffic cleared up, I caught up to them and decided that it was borderline creepy to see seven identically dressed policemen thundering down the highway, with no obvious destination. It was like a scene from Children of the Damned. Except they were Policemen....of the...damned...

Damn.

THE E-MAIL COMETH

It's finally come. That glorious day when my Stanford e-mail address has expired, and all those spammers can bite my bounced e-mails. HA. It's probably a bad sign that I'm this excited about an e-mail address, or lack thereof. Anyway, use my new e-mail address from now on. I'm not going to put it here because that would lead to all sorts of spammy badness, but you should know it. Really.

Besides that, I had another fairly laid back weekend. Last Friday I went to see Margaret Cho. She was everything that I had hoped for...AND MORE. She mixes humor and real honest-for-goodness opinions in a way that actually works, so that at the end of the two hours, she actually made me think. Damn her.

I'd also like to mourn the death of interesting radio. This morning I heard the new 3 Doors Down song on three stations at once this morning -- 97.3, 104.9, and 106.5. It's not even a good song. Poor radio; I hardly knew ye.

BUFFY, BUFFY, BUFFY!

I started playing Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds the other day. I had heard a lot of good things about this last one, so I had pretty high expectations of the sequel. It's an okay game, but it suffers from a lot of control problems. For example, you're not allowed to bail out of combo moves, so if you miss an enemy, you're stuck for about 5 seconds finishing your super-cool combo while your enemy attacks you from behind. Also, it's difficult to find the right position to pick up items and perform actions, which led to me being stuck on a level for a long time because I thought I couldn't pick up an item, when I was really just not in the exact right spot to pick it up. But other than those things, it's a fine game.

The most annoying thing is that they didn't get the original actress to do Willow's voice. They also didn't get Buffy's voice, but the woman who does her voice in the game does a pretty good job, unlike the woman who does Willow's. As I was playing, I realized that Willow's voice reminded me of someone, but I couldn't quite place it. After a while, it dawned on me that she sounded exactly like the girl who played Jan Brady in the Brady Bunch movie -- very breathy and kind of stoned. Unfortunately, IMDb proved me wrong, but I'm still holding out for the level where Buffy gets hit in the face with a football.

BOOGA

The title field of these posts is really taxing my brain. And "Booga" was the best I could come up with.

Anyway, not much has been happening in Sha Land. I was supposed to see "Lost in Translation" and "School of Rock" this past weekend but I didn't see either one. The most exciting occurence of the weekend was that I bought a desk for my room. Woo! So I was finally able to clean up all the crap on my floor. Of course, I still have a stack of boxes in there, but hey, small steps...

I donated blood at work yesterday, and the lady who was drawing my blood bruised my vein when she pulled out the needle. I had a nice little pocket of blood under my skin for a while yesterday, but now it's reduced to a beautiful purple bruise. I look like an IV drug user. As it turns out, it was all in vain anyway (heh heh... vain? vein? get it? hee hee) because I started feeling sick today so I have to call them and tell them they can't use my blood, lest I spread SARS or West Nile virus or something.

There's a guinea pig that has been running loose on the street my apartment is on. I've named him "Clarence." I want to pick him up, but I'm afraid he belongs to someone. But what weirdo lets their guinea pig run loose?

Finally, Enzo is back at day care today. Check him out on the webcams!

BAY AREACOIS

Following yesterday's farce of an election, Peter and I have decided to start a movement to secede the Bay Area from the rest of California and join Vermont. We'll be the Quebec of the United States!

Vive le Bay Area!

DON'T BE A BUTT HEAD

I believe that I have come up with the solution to get people to quit cigarettes once and for all. It's pretty obvious that vague threats of lung cancer and heart disease aren't working, so what health organizations should do is make cigarettes so that each time you smoked a cigarette, your butt size would increase by 1%. At a pack a day, after a couple months, you'd be rivaling J-Lo it booty size. I can pretty much guarantee that all those skinny girls you see smoking on the street would quit pretty darn fast.

Well I thought it was a good idea...

This weekend I took Enzo to K-9 Insight for an aggression evaluation, and I was pleasantly surprised by his good behavior. He didn't show any aggression towards the other dogs, and Pia, the instructor there, said he would be fine at doggy day care. So I think that we are going to start taking Enzo to Planet Pooch doggy day care once a week and see how that goes. Planet Pooch seems like a good place, plus they have webcams where you can watch your dogs throughout the day.

In other news, I voted this morning (and have the "I Voted" sticker to prove it!) and am eagerly awaiting the results of the election. Here's to hoping for an Arnold-free government.
