Roxanne and Nishchay
Tuesday, May 27th, 2008I spent this weekend in DC(-ish) for Roxanne and Nishchay’s wedding. I had a lot of fun, but as you can see, I had some camera difficulties. That 5D is looking better and better…
The rest of the pictures will be up soon.
Congratulations, Roxanne and Nishchay!
Staying active
Wednesday, May 21st, 2008No, not in the physical sense. That would be silly and healthy.
Last Saturday was YarJanFrends’ housewarming party/potluck, which was really fun. I didn’t have time to make anything (okay, I was too lazy), so I bought a couple Little Star pizzas, YUM. There was a lot of eating and Rockband-ing, so a basically successful night, in my opinion.
Sunday I went to a bbq for Cheryl’s birthday (Happy Birthday, Cheryl!), where I ate lots and lots of grilled meat, YUM.
Yesterday I randomly IMed an old coworker from EA and we decided to have dinner that night. He’s since started working at Pixar, which is basically awesome.
Well just call me a regular social butterfly, why don’t you. Other than hanging out with friends, I recently registered http://www.shashaphotography.com/ to finally build up a portfolio site. Don’t click on it now; there’s nothing there. But I have been working on in a lot, and I will definitely let you all know when it goes live. I even hired a friend to design a logo for me. Cool!
Finally, Happy Birthday to Buddy and Christine, congratulations to Brendan and Miriam, and congratulations to Cliff and Andy. Happy times all around!
Bless Me
Tuesday, May 13th, 2008Apparently my coughs sound like sneezes. I’d say at least 50% of the time when I make a large-ish cough, somebody says “Bless you.”
Or maybe I just appear to be in need of blessings.
Shinteki
Monday, May 12th, 2008I played Shinteki Decathlon 4 this past Saturday with Peter, Crystal, and Matt. It was my first Shinteki and only my 3rd or so puzzle hunt ever, so I was worried I’d just be dead weight. As it turns out, I was actually able to contribute (though there were definitely spans of me spacing out while everybody else worked), and I had a lot of fun. It was a 12 hour game, so I was pretty tired at the end of the day. I was even more tired because I hadn’t gotten much sleep the night before. Why, you ask, did I not get much sleep? Because of Lil’ Sack-Face, that’s why. I invited Yar and Rahul over on Friday to watch The Orphanage, and while it was good, it was definitely scary. So, dear readers, if I ever invite you over to watch a scary movie, tell me I’m stupid and try to talk me out of it, please.
On Sunday, Buddy and I met a friend at Ti Couz for brunch (mmm…crepes), and I did some housework until it was time to meet people at Cafe Mums for all-you-can-eat shabu shabu. Mmmm…. So basically, I was a big fatty. What did you do?
I am Iron Man
Tuesday, May 6th, 2008Actually, I’m slightly iron deficient. But I did see Iron Man over the weekend with Rahul and Buddy, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Robert Downey Jr. really carried the movie well, and the vfx were really nice. I didn’t think it was the second coming of Jesus in movie form like some people, but it’s definitely worth seeing.
I’ve been thinking about launching an official photography/portfolio site, and I’m sort of against the idea (at least for now) of paying somebody else lots of $$$ to put together the site for me, so I’ve been looking into a couple scripts to present my photos in a non-crappy way. I found a nice one called Lightbox that uses Javascript, so I wrote some php code to go through a directory of images and set up the lightbox links for them. I think it might load too slowly to be practical, but you can check out my test here. There’s also a flash-based one called SimpleViewer that looks nice. I figure if I actually want to try to start booking some real gigs, I should have a nice site to point people to.
Marsha and Eric’s Wedding
Thursday, May 1st, 2008This past weekend we spent a whirlwind 36 hours in Albuquerque for Marsha and Eric’s wedding. The wedding was held at the Hyatt Tamaya Resort in Santa Ana. It was a ton of fun (if not a little windy); I got to see a bunch of people from high school, so it was almost like a mini 10 year (!) reunion.
Congratulations, Marsha and Eric!
Pictures are here. Believe it or not, there are many more that I didn’t post…
