Thursday, May 31st, 200750,000 Miles!
Sunday, May 27th, 2007Hit 50,000 miles today. Not too bad for a car that’s just under 3 years old!
Climb on!
Friday, May 25th, 2007I’ve been having a really good climbing week. On Monday I did a 9, 10a, two 10cs, a 10d, and an 11a, all without falling once! And yesterday, I did two V3s, only the second and third V3s I’ve ever done. Woo! The weird thing is, on both days I was feeling pretty tired, and yesterday I was even feeling dizzy while I was bouldering. Go figure.
P-O-P-C-O-R-N
Thursday, May 24th, 2007Yesterday on the way to lunch, Buddy and I were talking about how in movies and television shows, people are always calling that number that says “At the tone, the time will be [blah]. *beep*” but that we’d never heard of a number that actually does that. However, Erik told us that if you call “POPCORN”, i.e. 767-2676, you’ll hear that message. Incredulous, Buddy pulled out his phone and tried it. To our surprise, it worked! Try it out!
Edit: It turns out that POP-XXXX (where XXXX is any four numbers) works! Try it out! Thanks to Buddy for the updated info.
Also, Matt sent me this link about a high school grad who was posing as a Stanford student for an entire year. After you get past the hilarity of the whole situation, it’s actually kind of sad that this girl (who obviously has some serious mental problems), apparently felt the need to tell her friend and family that she had been accepted into Stanford, when she hadn’t. Goooo Asian parents! Seriousness aside, I think her “roommate” is gonna get a-whippin’ when she goes home for Christmas:
Scratch Here
Monday, May 21st, 2007Here’s something I’ve wondered about sweepstakes that require you to scratch something off of a card. There are the kind that have only one square to scratch off (this post does not concern those), and there are the kind that require you to scratch off a subset of the squares, say 1 out of 2 boxes, as the current Spiderman 3 sweepstakes does.
My question is: when you have a winning card for the grand prize, do they rig the card such that no matter which square(s) you scratch off, you win? Or do you not only have to have a winning card, but also choose the correct boxes?
I can’t imagine how frustrating it would be to scratch off a few squares, not win anything, scratch off the rest of them (as I usually do), and discover that you could have won a car.
Heron pics
Friday, May 18th, 2007These pictures were up in the old photos section of my site, but I decided to put them up on Flickr, too. Still kind of unbelievable to me.
Happy (Belated) Birthday, Buddy!
Friday, May 18th, 2007Yesterday was Buddy’s birthday. We went to Red Lobster for dinner, where I ate lots of crab. Yum!
Happy Birthday, Old Man.
TV show recommendations?
Thursday, May 17th, 2007Any of you who have tried to make plans with me on Wednesday evenings knows that my Wednesdays are devoted to heading over to Peter and Justin’s to watch TV. Sounds exciting, I know. It started out by us watching episodes of Lost, but between seasons, we have also watched Firefly and Battlestar Galactica. Now that Lost is wrapping up its current season and Battlestar is not returning until 2008, we’re fast approaching a TV-less Wednesday. I’d really like to see Heroes, but most of the people we watch with have seen it already. I thought Entourage would be a good choice; the couple of episodes I’ve seen were good. Maybe Sopranos? Weeds?
Do any of you have any recommendations for TV shows we could get on DVD? Recommendations for old shows are fine, too.
