Say Cheese!

December 10th, 2002

I think that I have an unconscious phobia of missing taking pictures of important events. Last week I had a dream that I was in a coffee house with the members of U2. A few of us were just sort of hanging out and chatting with them, when my Imaginary Dream Friend and I decide it would be a cool idea to get a picture with U2. So I hand my Other Imaginary Dream Friend my camera and we go stand by U2. A whole bunch of people start taking pictures, and I can see my Other Imaginary Dream Friend struggling to see over all the people taking pictures. Eventually, The Edge gets frustrated and leaves, and my picture never gets taken.

Then two days ago, I dreamt I was walking with a friend near a zoo when I notice that one of the fences has a hole in it. A baby goat squeezes through the hole, so I pick it up and carry it around. It is very cute and fuzzy and full of baby animal goodness, so I ask my friend to take my picture with it. For some reason, she can’t take the picture, so she gives up and I have to return the baby goat to the zoo, sans cute baby goat picture.

So the moral of the story is, if I ask you to take my picture, for you own good and mine, please do it.

In unrelated news, this is my webpage’s 100th post! Woohoo! What’s someone called who is 100 years old? I wanted to title this post Sha Sha the Centurion, but when I looked that up on dictionary.com, I discovered that a centurion is the commander of a century in the Roman army. As cool as that would be, I didn’t want anyone to think that I had run off to compete in chariot races or anything like that.

Finally, I was referenced in an online article! A writer for the SANS Institute (SysAdmin, Audit, Network, and Security) referenced a project on computer viruses that I had worked on for CS201 a couple of years ago. Although I’m flattered that he appreciated my description of polymorphic viruses, it makes me a little wary of the SANS Institute, seeing as they quoted a college student.
