Dear Patricia,

I have bad news and good news, both being in your favor! The bad news
is that due to an unfortunate administrative error, you were sent a
letter dated 5/25/01 informing you that you were not admitted to our
Master’s Program. The good news is that I am pleased to say that you
have, in fact, been admitted! My apologies for any inconvenience this
error may have caused you. I hope that you will consider accepting our
offer to enter our Master’s Program for the Fall quarter 2001. If you
have any questions or need any assistance with making such an important
decision, please don’t hesitate to call me at 723-1519. An official
letter of acceptance on behalf of Prof. David Dill, the Chairman for the
Master’s Program Committee, will follow in the mail on Monday, June 4,
2001.

All of the admits for Fall quarter 2001 have been requested to let us
know their decisions by July 1, 2001. Your response authorizes us to
enter your decision into the University’s system. Please feel free to
notify me via e-mail of your decision. I will, however, still need your
“official” response to offer form for our records. (This form will be
enclosed with your letter of acceptance.)

Again, on behalf of the Master’s Program Committee, you have both my
sincerest apologies and congratulations!
-Kathi
